Rocktale is a catalogue for people who watch Bengali cinema first and everything else second. The big databases treat Bangladeshi releases, local streaming services and Bengali-language titles as an edge case. They are the whole point here.
How we work
Bengali first, not Bengali as an afterthought
Original-script titles, transliterations and English release names are all stored and all searchable. A film is not a single string.
We own the catalogue
External metadata is imported into our own database rather than queried live. That is what lets us attach local release dates and Bangladeshi availability to it.
Stale beats wrong
Every availability row carries the date it was last verified. If we cannot verify it, we say so instead of guessing.
Official links only
We link to provider pages. We do not host, embed or link to unlicensed streams, and we never will.
The Verdict
A four-tier judgement replaces star ratings: Must watch, Recommended, Timepass, and Skip. The aggregate is shown as a percentage of viewers who recommend the title — the top two tiers count as a yes — because that is the question people are actually asking.
Verdicts and watch status are separate. You can mark something as planned without rating it, and rate something without writing a word about it.
Fix a listing
Availability and release dates in this market change weekly. Corrections are reviewed by a moderator before they are applied, and accepted changes are recorded with a timestamp so the history stays auditable.
What a good correction includes
- · The title, and the exact provider you saw it on.
- · The region you are checking from, for example Bangladesh.
- · Whether it is subscription, rental, free with ads or a cinema run.
- · A link to the official provider page, not a screenshot.
The submission form ships with the catalogue tools. Until then, the availability section on every title page is the place to start.
Data and credits
Title metadata and artwork are imported from The Movie Database. Artwork is referenced from the TMDB image CDN rather than re-hosted.
